Laser Printer Maintenance Maintenance Kits Certain models of laser printers require maintenance kits at set intervals. These printers are programmed to display a message to 'Perform Maintenance' (this is common for corporate models of laser printers). We can supply either OEM or compatible maintenance kits for all makes and models of printers. For models that do not display a message about maintenance, you may notice a deterioration in the print quality. Have a look at our troubleshooting page first, or check your HP model with the table of maintenance cycles below. Typically a maintenance kit for a mono laser printer includes a fuser, transfer charge roller and pick-up rollers. However, in our experience some parts may last longer than the specified maintenance interval. We give you the option of only replacing the parts that require immediate replacement (particularly fusers), without compromising on print quality, saving you money. Preventative Maintenance Programme Preventative maintenance is the key to ensuring your fleet of printers performs in top condition. Did you know paper dust, toner dust and debris cause printer breakdowns (particularly paper jams) and also impact print quality? Our preventative maintenance service helps to avoid these problems. Printers that are regularly cleaned and assessed provide years of service with a minimum of downtime. Don’t wait for your printer to break down before calling us. Talk to us today about a preventative maintenance programme to suit your needs and budget. Maintenance Kit Cycles*
* The useful life of fusers, image transfer kits and drums is estimated on the basis of 5% coverage of an A4 sized page. The useful life will be less where A3 printing occurs or the page coverage exceeds 5%. Only selected models have been included. How to obtain a page count Before requesting a new fuser or maintenance kit, you may want to confirm the current 'page count' of the printer. You can print a 'configuration page' from almost every model of HP LaserJet printer. For models with an LED display, print a menu map and follow the map for instructions on how to print a 'Configuration Page' or a 'Test Page' - it is usually under the 'Information Menu' (newer printers) or 'Test Menu' (older printers). The configuration page for corporate laser printers (those with a fixed maintenance cycle in the lists above) will also have the number of pages since the last maintenance was performed. For printers without an LED display, there will either be one or two button on the top of the printer. If the printer has two buttons, press both at the same time to print a configuration page. If this only prints a demonstration page (without a page count) press and hold one of the buttons for a few seconds. If this doesn't work, try the other button. Printers with just the one button may not store the page count - you can confirm this by pressing the button once and seeing if the demonstration page includes a page count. For some models, pressing the button for a few seconds may provide a configuration page. A number of the small laser printers do not store the page count. You can then check the page count (or maintenance count for corporate models) against the cycles above to check whether you need a replacement maintenance kit.
